There are two movements in this poem. The silence, the ache , the pain and loneliness in the first half. Then the hope, the reaching for connection and acceptance of self love. So beautiful!
What a lovely poem, and the way the turn in the middle works is good. There's a wonderfully fluid feel to the first half, almost melting, and then the turn towards hope and opportunity is so good.
Your ability to trace the movement from that heavy, "sticky" isolation back to the simple warmth of sun-drenched skin is beautiful, especially the realization that the most vital embrace is often the one we finally give ourselves. Love this Cynthia ✨
Oh, my! That was true brilliance, Cynthia! I can feel the loneliness of the moon and the emptiness that the hands represent and just every emotion with the cleverness of your beautifully placed words. I have to admire you for this. I never thought to approach poetry quite like this. It makes me want to try. 🌸
Such density of pain within the emotions spilling out. And there is also hope. How you carry both so beautifully with your words. Thank you for sharing so vulnerably Cynthia. This is beautiful.
I love the beach and sand, ocean.. I dislike loneliness, I love how you embrace yourself in this beautiful piece. I just got my toes painted feels so nice!
Cynthia. The thing that stayed with me here is how the poem lets the ocean stay empty for so long; no container, no holder, no embrace & still finds its way back to painted toes in the sand without pretending the grief dissolved on command. It feels much less like a tidy arc & more like watching someone slowly realise that the hand they’ve been reaching for might, eventually, be their own -- as someone who's currently grieving very recent loses, I really appreciate this.
I am sorry @itsmichelled_ for your losses. I wanted to write about it from the most realistic perspective when I have experience loss. Thanks for capturing the essence of what I was trying to reveal. You really are a great reader. Thank you! Grateful for our connection.
