Undercurrents
Overflow of emotions
The sun evokes
Painted toes in the sand
Turned over flip flops to protect the feet
Melted sunscreen on glistened skin
The ocean evokes
Vast spaces where there is no container
No holder
No embrace
A sullen rebuff stains
The arm goes astray.
reach ..Reach.. Reach!
But the fingertips do not meet
Like a repeated song, they long
The quest for someone to fill
Only to find blue
Fractures outline the waves
A solo hand soothes
But to no avail
Undercurrents take castles
The tides ebb but there is no flow
The moon shines but is left unseen
The sounds carry metal that collides
Tears spill in the vessel of the belly
Rhyme is congested
Night lurks with sad overflow
The container cannot hold
Sticky grief like molasses grips the dark sky
Where the warmth of water has no power
There is no dissolve
Only a narrow road with tight turns
Without exits
Without entrances
Without windows
They want to cry
But tears are tired of traveling the facial roads
The path is arduous yet predictable
Maybe a scream can finally free the pain
And shed the freight
To capture hope
Hope to see through the grey
Hope for tides to be seen as waves that play
Hope for a bird that stands
And oceans that expand
The hand that finally finds the other hand
For the embrace
The hold that confirms the sun will return
And the moon will shine
Sandy skies
Sun drenched grains
Rays that shine
Brightness that blinds
And the sun shows
Painted toes in the sand
Turned over flip flops to protect the feet
Melted sunscreen on glistened skin
Soon,
the embrace for myself will be enough
To hold the pain
And to remember
Painted toes in the sand….
