Really nice! I like the intermittent rhyming and use of enjambment. It gave it this stuttering start stop feel that almost made me thing of watching a stop motion of the root growth
HI Andy! I love learning from the feedback i get. Now I know the term, “enjambment”! Makes me happy this landed for you in regards to pacing and messaging:)
Festering thoughts will finally be released through words, through speaking. What a neat topic and a gentle reminder not to keep it all boxed in for our sanity .
Nabanita- Yes! The “festering” has felt toxic in my body for too long. Thank you for getting my intended message of hoping others will be impacted by my personal experiences.
Ohh, so dreamy even though it’s also dark. I loved every word. Especially the line about recoil. This poem is vividly alive! You are a talented person who keeps on proving it!
There’s something almost confrontational about roots when they’re this exposed — the part of a plant we never see, doing the hardest work, suddenly laid bare against all that darkness. It makes you think about how much of what sustains us operates invisibly, not just to others but sometimes to ourselves too. The title alone carries a lot of weight. Is ‘Roots’ about what grounds you, or more about the act of excavating what’s underneath?
Always! I’m sorry I haven’t been around as much to be as supportive as I want to be. Life gets hectic but I always find myself thinking of my friend Cynthia and how her writing has opened me to experiencing life in different ways. 😊
I am touched by this, Ashelyn. I get how life can get so busy. I appreciate when you are able to share your support in written form. Know that you are with me regardless! Hope things are settling down for you!
Oh my friend, I take a few days out in the real world and come back to this. So beautifully crafted and read. A journey from the 'cavernous dark' to nurturance and safety and release. Wonderful, as always.
Hello @Muffs to Muffins! Nice to connect with you. Thank you so much for letting me know my poem landed with you. I usually post on Fridays so there will be more. Check my previous pieces if you like:)
Thank you so much @Gary L Taylor for restacking. Appreciate the support.
This is your special way of sharing your inner world with the world. It might take a little time, but I'm sure it'll be worth it!
Thank you so much, Mitayu! I appreciate you understanding my intent. That is why I will publish my memoir one day.
Great👌Looking forward to reading it!
That is awesome! Thank you!

Oh Cynthia. I come to look at your words and they too are amazing. Great poem! Great imagery and word choice.
Wow. Thank you so much, Daniil, for letting me know what resonated! I have been working on word choice:) So this makes me happy!
"Come dance with me, pained words."
That invitation
is the most courageous line
in the poem.
Not the net.
Not the promise of stars.
The invitation to dance —
which means moving
rather than staying still
inside what hurts.
You did not ask the thoughts
to leave.
You asked them to move
with you
toward something.
That distinction
is everything.

The net is here for your reveries.”
